Back to NewsroomThe Sir John Monash Centre receives the French “Tourism and Handicap” label

On 19 December 2024, the Sir John Monash Centre took a major step forward in its commitment to accessibility for all, by obtaining the ‘Tourisme & Handicap’ label for people with intellectual disabilities, reduced mobility, or who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The Tourisme & Handicap label is awarded by the French government, demonstrates a concrete commitment and recognition in relation to ensuring accessibility to the Centre for as many people as possible.
During the design phase, the architects ensured that the Sir John Monash Centre was fully accessible by installing lifts and ramps, housing the entire exhibition on one level and installing automatic doors. The experience was also designed to be accessible to as many people as possible, thanks to the SJMC app, which provides an accessible interface and subtitles to the content displayed in the Centre.
The Sir John Monash Centre staff are trained and aware of the need to ensure that the Centre is accessible to people with disabilities .
