Take a break at the SJMC café

News

Posted on 17 August 2023

The SJMC café offers a comfortable and relaxing space to take a break during your visit of the Sir John Monash Centre. Under new management, it provides visitors with a variety of homemade food, cakes, coffee and souvenirs.

Jackie Bedford, a passionate baker, has been running the café since July. She has plenty of experience in catering having run two other tea rooms in the past, one in the UK before moving to France 25 years ago, and another on the battlefields near Albert.

Jackie and her team welcome you every day.

In addition to a wide variety of hot drinks, coffees, teas, and herbal teas, the seasonal menu offers a large selection of homemade, tasty dishes for any time of the day. Visitors can enjoy scrambled eggs for a late breakfast or freshly made salads, quiches, bagels, and baguette sandwiches for lunch. The traditional homemade desserts and cakes, such as lime cheesecake, carrot cake and raspberry pavlova are also very tempting!

Sweet or savoury? You'll find something to suit every taste.

The café is open every day during the Centre’s opening hours (10am to 5pm). Large groups are welcome, but advance booking for lunch on site or packed lunches is strongly recommended. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
