With travel restrictions in place in France since 2020, the Sir John Monash Centre has been adapting throughout 2021 to offer a digital alternative to a site visit, provide new activities and keep welcoming school groups.

The Sir John Monash Centre’s digital offer has been enhanced with the relaunch of the Western Front Communiqué – the Sir John Monash Centre newsletter.

Many of you have joined us on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter where we will continue to share news from the Sir John Monash Centre, carefully selected archive images and videos created by the team and available on the Australian Department of Veterans’ Affairs YouTube channel.

At the Sir John Monash Centre, the Tokyo Olympics and Remembrance Week conferences were very successful. Most of these conferences took an online format to keep engaging with our visitors overseas. For 2022, we will be offering new conferences presented by First World War historians and specialists. We are also planning new workshops for children and adults throughout the year.

Welcoming school groups will remain one of our priorities for 2022. We are now offering bilingual activities and guided tours to all schools who wish to learn more about Australia’s history in the First World War. You can visit our dedicated page to plan a visit with your school.
